VNA Plus Honors Three at Annual Gala

Posted on November 26th, 2013

The 2013 Giving Thanks Gala, held annually to raise funds and recognize vital partners in the Agency’s mission, honored three recipients November 22 at the Evansville Country Club.

Cissy Kraft, former Executive Director of Visiting Nurse Association, received the James B. Duncan Supporter Award. Since her retirement in 2006, Cissy has remained a loyal advocate, financial supporter and volunteer, serving on the Agency’s fund development committee, recruiting new supporters, and acting as a resource to present Executive Director, Gloria Horton.

Dr. Terry Gehlhausen was recognized with the Dr. Charles Van Hook Medical Partner Award. Dr. Gehlhausen has served as the Agency’s Medical Director since 2004, having previously served in that role from 1995 to 2001. He dedicates countless hours to providing home care and hospice services to residents of Gibson, Pike, Knox and Daviess Counties.

St. Philip, Indiana resident, Leo Weinzapfel and his seven sons were presented with the Lydia Metz Family Caregiving Award. Mr. Weinzapfel and his children came together to help wife and mother, Mary, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Their unwavering dedication and support continued when she became a VNA Plus Hospice patient, first in her home and then in the John and Betty Charlier Hospice Center, located within the VNA Plus headquarters in Evansville, Indiana.

We congratulate these award recipients and thank everyone for their support of our efforts to provide professional, compassionate home care and hospice services to our communities!
