Each year, VNA Plus Home Care & Hospice receives funds from United Way to assist individuals in need of services. VNA Plus employees had the opportunity to give back to the community during the recent United Way Spring Into Caring Food Drive, held earlier this month. In less than one week, staff filled three large barrels with canned goods, boxed items, and single servings of food appropriate for backpacks to ensure that children have something to eat on weekends when they are not in school.
VNA Plus contributed more than 322 pounds of food–the equivalent of 268 meals–to the food drive, which collected a total of over 25,000 pounds of food and $2,000 in cash donations from all United Way partners and agencies. Additionally, postal workers collected more than 95,000 pounds of food!
At a gathering at the end of the week to celebrate the staff’s efforts, Dennis Gish, VNA Plus Accounts Receivable Manager and Food Drive Coordinator, commented, “I’m just amazed by the generosity of this organization and what you have done this week to help others.” Staff were treated to cake, cookies and drawings for participation prizes.
